He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see—such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. Colossians 1:16b - 17 (NLT)
Yesterday we began looking at God’s creative power, and how we
got here. Today’s next part of Paul’s letter
to the Colossian believers teaches us how we are staying here.
He holds all creation together
Paul says Jesus Christ “holds all creation together”. Remember the children’s song, “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”?
If Paul and that song are right, everything
depends upon the will of God. Should God
decide to “let go” everything comes apart. Even your next breath is held in His hand!
The youngster who prayed by his bedside can teach us a lot of
good theology about this: "Dear
Lord, take care of Mommy, Daddy, Sis and me.
And Lord, take care of Yourself, 'cause if anything ever happens to You,
we're sunk!"
If you believe the first four words of Genesis, (In the beginning God…Gen 1:1), the rest is enlightenment on
how good God really is towards His creation.
By Jesus' power the whole creation is held together.
Today
Reflect on God’s ownership!
Creation was His idea; He got it going, and He keeps it going. He's doing a great job as owner!
And don't forget, since He holds all things together, He's also got in His capable hands the "mess" that is sometimes your life.
Don’t forget to
thank Him and praise Him for being your “glue”; He’s got it all together!
