Like Noah's Day

Thursday, May 11, 2023

The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.  So the Lord was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth.  It broke his heart.  And the Lord said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth.  Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.”  But Noah found favor with the Lord.  This is the account of Noah and his family.  Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.  Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.  Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence.  God observed all this corruption in the world, for everyone on earth was corrupt.  So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence.  Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!  Genesis 6:5-13

Scripture points out that God is always watching the unfolding of His creation.  In Noah’s day it was not a pretty sight.  Imagine God, Who is holy, looking at the activities, thoughts, and hearts of human beings, and finding nothing but darkness.  In the 21st century we are accustomed to hearing of the grace and mercy of God; Genesis introduces us to the justice of God.

This passage of Scripture sets the tone for all theologically-sound doctrine, what we can say with confidence about the nature of God.  God’s evaluation of all human activity was evil wickedness, including our thoughts and intentions.

The result of such is that we have filled the earth with wickedness and violence.  Who could argue with that, considering the state of our world.

·       In the 21st-Century life is daily filled with news of disasters and tragic accounts of loss and doom.

·       Every possible dark thing that takes place on earth is streaming on the Internet.

·       There has never been a time in the history of human existence without a war going on somewhere on the planet; Cain killing Abel originated the murderous mele.

·       Deceit, greed, and selfishness have pervasively become the norm for interpersonal relationships.  And all of that has systematically unravelled the hope of family and even civil relationships in communities.

·       Sodom and Gomorrah are thriving!

It’s not stretching the truth to say that, had God not promised Noah the destruction of all life would never again be forthcoming, planet earth and all it holds would be in flames.

And what our world looks like today is precisely what Jesus predicted would characterize the imminence of His return, bringing judgment to the earth:

“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day.  In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat.  Matthew 24:37-38

For You Today

Judgment is unavoidable.  Every action, according to the laws of nature and physics, has an equal and opposite reaction.  Evil requires good to mitigate, as does evil attempting to undo good.  God is entirely good; evil will not last.

You chew on that as you hit the Rocky Road; have a blessed day!

Heavens on Fire

Wednesday, December 30, 2020
But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends:  A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.  The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think.  No, he is being patient for your sake.  He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.  But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief.  Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment.  Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along.  On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames.  But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.  2 Peter 3:8-13

We are extremely near the end of time for year #2020, but that is nothing compared to the end of time for time.  And the comparison is the same for the events of both 2020 and the events that will flood God’s day of Judgment; 2020 has been more than challenging, but Judgment Day will have no parallel in its consequences.

Peter’s description of the heavens on fire and the elements melting away in the flames pictures a conflagration, the size of which is unimaginable.  For those who are unsure of what the future holds this is a painful, dangerous thought to entertain.  It’s not just the matter of death, or some pain, but the unknowable future; what if there really is life following this existence?  What if God really does hold us humans accountable?  What if?

Well, the what if is a certainty for those who know Jesus Christ as Lord, says the big fisherman, Peter, and we look forward to the new heavens and earth God has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.

So, preacher, when will all this take place?  Have you got a prediction like that nutcase standing on the street corner downtown, waving his sign?  No, I don’t have a sign, and God has not chosen to tell us the ETA on our GPS.  But what God has chosen to tell us is to be prepared so, when it does happen, we won’t be like those surprised and losing all hope of eternity.

There are those who argue that, since it hasn’t happened for thousands of years, its not a concern for this week…or even their lifetime.  But that is just a matter of Biblical ignorance.  Peter tells us that God is not a slave to clocks or calendars.  God is on His own schedule, and the reason for this time of awaiting Christ’s return is God’s patience.  God wants all humans to be saved, sins forgiven, souls secured for eternity.  But the very mention of judgment, of the heavens on fire, is that there are those who reject, and will continue to reject God’s offer of forgiveness.

God is patiently waiting, but that will end at some point.  Frankly, if you die before the Lord returns, Scripture tells us there will be resurrection day.  And, more precisely, there will two resurrections(see Revelation 20).  The first resurrection will be of those who died faithfully believing in Christ.  The second resurrection is of those who rejected the offer of salvation by simply refusing to confess their sins and the fact that they are estranged from their Creator.  Listen to how the Apostle John describes that first and second resurrection:

And I saw a great white throne and the one sitting on it.  The earth and sky fled from his presence, but they found no place to hide.  I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne.  And the books were opened, including the Book of Life.  And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books.  The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead.  And all were judged according to their deeds.  Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire.  This lake of fire is the second death.  And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.  Revelation 20:11-15

For You Today

The promises of God in Scripture (not what you feel, or think is right, but God’s Word), are certain.  Some are difficult to hear, such as judgment day.  But that is only so if you haven’t accepted Christ; to those who have the promises are life!

You chew on that as you hit the Rocky Road; have a blessed day!

End of the Track

Wednesday, November 21, 2018

“The day is coming when you will see the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing where he should not be.”  (Reader, pay attention!)  “Then those in Judea must flee to the hills.  A person out on the deck of a roof must not go down into the house to pack.  A person out in the field must not return even to get a coat.  How terrible it will be for pregnant women and for nursing mothers in those days.  And pray that your flight will not be in winter.  For there will be greater anguish in those days than at any time since God created the world.  And it will never be so great again.  In fact, unless the Lord shortens that time of calamity, not a single person will survive.  But for the sake of his chosen ones he has shortened those days.  “Then if anyone tells you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah,’ or ‘There he is,’ don’t believe it.  For false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God’s chosen ones.  Watch out!  I have warned you about this ahead of time!  Mark 13:14-23(NLT)

This passage is filled with urgency.  It’s like advice to the people scrambling to get out of the pathway of the wildfires:  don’t stop to pack, or even pick up a toothbrush, and, omigosh, is that woman about to go into labor?  When you’re on a locomotive, and the end of the tracks is clearly in front of you, you do not spend a moment emptying the trash bucket in the rest room … you get off that choo-choo RIGHT NOW!
Of course, scholars would explain that Jesus was speaking of the immediate future (70AD), when persecution for his group would blaze; these things did happen, just as the Lord prophesied.  But there is a second meaning corresponding to this warning; in Scripture[2] the second coming of Christ is preceded by a great “falling-away” as people reject God’s authority, leaving worship and obedience to the Word of God as empty as most churches these days.
Historically-speaking the church has always been positioned in Advent; it’s not just a season on the calendar, but rather the constant hope of all Christians.  We are awaiting the grand re-entrance of Christ, returning to rule the nations.
Now, that is a well-known Christian doctrine, that one day (an unknown day, except in Heaven), the risen Messiah will return to earth to set everything in its rightful place.  Preaching during Advent takes on a tone of expectancy, not just the celebration of His first arrival in a manger, but the urgency of an imminent breaking-in; the King could come at any time!
But notice the very end of Mark’s remembrance of Jesus’ warnings:  don’t be deceived!  With urgency arrives the possibility of frantic behavior.  That is so opposite of what Jesus told his disciples:  I give you peace … and it’s so different than the world’s idea of peace; I give you my peace that overcomes whatever craziness life can throw at you.  Here’s how the apostle John recalled what Jesus said:

“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart.  And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.  So don’t be troubled or afraid.  John 14:27(NLT)

Frantic people move around from place to place, church-to-tent-revival, to prayer gatherings and prophecy seminars … all in a frenetic attempt to gain some new insight or hear some new and more fascinating angle on when the second coming will happen.
Friends, that is exactly how deception becomes a possibility.  Jesus’ instructions to the disciples, (including us) is to be unafraid.  That means our “job” is to live-into, and rest-in the peace He promises.  You cannot do that running from one brand of church to another, or frantically-searching for some new doctrine, or better way.  Life in the Kingdom is lived-out one moment at a time, largely in the ordinary, everyday tasks that connect us with people who are real, with diapers being changed, going to work, cutting the grass, helping a neighbor with a leaky faucet.  That’s hardly sensational-sounding, but this is the way Jesus said it would be:

“Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left.  Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.         Matthew 24:40-41(NLT)

Now, all that said, common sense in the peace-gift Christ gives us, also tells us to be adventists – Christians who understand that the times always point to the imminent return of our Lord.
And the condition of contemporary culture couldn’t be riper for that harvest!

Out of Chaos

Tuesday, December 19, 2017
Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever.  Just as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people, both now and forever.  The wicked will not rule the land of the godly, for then the godly might be tempted to do wrong.  O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you.  But banish those who turn to crooked ways, O Lord.  Take them away with those who do evil.  May Israel have peace!
Psalm 125:1-5(NLT)
“Friends, I realize that what you and your leaders did to Jesus was done in ignorance.  But God was fulfilling what all the prophets had foretold about the Messiah—that he must suffer these things.  Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.  Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.  For he must remain in heaven until the time for the final restoration of all things, as God promised long ago through his holy prophets.
Acts 3:17-21(NLT)
The recent political move towards officially recognizing Jerusalem as the capitol city of Israel is seen by some as a tragic international blunder.  We have self-debilitated the U.S. as a non-biased mediator.  How then will there ever be peace between Israel and the rest of the world?  Yet, how could Israel have peace without the powerful backing of U.S. military might?
These questions seem to war against each other until you pit them against the larger picture of Biblical prophecy.  There will never be a genuine and lasting peace in Israel until Messiah returns.  And through His prophets God has decreed that event will be accompanied by the worst chaos and division against Israel and all for which she stands; she will be standing against, and be bitterly hated by the rest of the world’s powers.
This seems a rather fatalistic, chaotic view of the future, and sadly pessimistic concerning even the possibilities of attaining peace.  Indeed there are those who hold to the view that we are supposed to bring in the Kingdom by achieving peace.  This takes the position that Messiah won’t come back until we banish war and evil, and finally get the leaders of the Middle East to behave themselves.  With several thousand years of history pointed in the opposite direction, achieving genuine shalom in Jerusalem seems a mighty long way off!
The view I hold derives from the Scripture-based interpretation of mounting tension and division – a polarizing of world powers until there is cataclysmic world conflict which culminates in a final battle near Jerusalem – a place called Armageddon.  I believe this because of the dark nature of Adam’s race, which is the tendency we have to engage our human nature with evil purposes; we end up loving war and conflict.  Shedding blood is the legacy we have from Cain and Abel; there are predators and there is prey.
And still we pray for the peace of Jerusalem, remembering that peace will never come until the blood runs as high as horse’s bridles all through the valley of God’s judgment:
The grapes were trampled in the winepress outside the city, and blood flowed from the winepress in a stream about 180 miles long and as high as a horse’s bridle.
Revelation 14:20(NLT)

For You Today

Through the madness of this world’s terrorism attacks, struggles of nations against nations, and even the natural disasters which dispassionately snuff out the most innocent of lives, Christians are to continually pray for peace, act on behalf of those who are weak, yet seeking peace; we are to bear the Good Tidings of the Gospel everywhere under any conditions.  It is God’s hand that will, as He did in the week of creation, bring peace out of the chaos!
You chew on that as you hit the Rocky Road…have a blessed day!

I Believe in Christ's Return

There are many weird things you can hear about the return of Christ and the end of time.
This morning I would like to share my beliefs up front, and then cut right to the chase of exposition of what Jesus said about His second coming, the "Parousia".  Your pastor is a "pre-millennial-tribulationist".  I believe that Christ will return to earth to rule for a thousand years when He comes; this will happen after a period of 7 years of Satanically-inspired world domination by the Antichrist and the Beast.
But that will all be AFTER the church has been "caught away" in the rapture (a term used to describe the lifting of the church out of the world so we can be with Jesus during those events described in the middle chapters of Revelation.)
Now, having unloaded all the complicated terminology I learned in seminary, let's talk English about the event every Christian should be waiting for and thinking about, the next great event in the history of mankind, the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There has always been a lot of speculation, including those who would set a specific date for the end of things.  Two decades ago a man was in the news constantly because he had announced the end was upon us.  I read his booklet, listened to the hype, and took it in stride when the date came...and went!
Having heard the man interviewed I truly believe that he was sincere.  But that doesn't mean he was right....He was simply sincerely wrong.  He had gotten carried away with Bible dates, prophecies and predictions.  He attributed significance to certain Biblical and non-biblical events that were not bedrock when applied to accepted practice of interpreting scripture.

Example....If you take the world leaders of the World War II era, Churchill, Hitler, Roosevelt, Il Duce (Mussolini), Stalin and Tojo; you see that the first letters of their names spell Christ.  Next, look at the chart...
You notice that each column totals the same...3,888.  You could make quite a compelling case for something based upon the numerical possibilities of all those numbers adding up to something.  However, what spiritual meaning can you draw from that?  Is it the year 3,888 that Christ is to come back?  And by which calendar?  If it is our calendar, the Lord won’t come back for almost another two thousand years; if by the Chinese calendar, we’ve already missed it!
That kind of speculative hypothesizing might be intensely interesting, but you can't draw conclusions about God's plan for mankind that way.
In fact you can only get in trouble, because the Word of God strictly forbids such practices of numerology, astrology and the like for making decisions about your life.  When the Bible is silent on an issue, it is safe to draw prudent, intelligent conclusions, not wild speculation.
But the Bible is not quiet about the day of the return of the Lord, Jesus Christ.  It speaks loudly and clearly (Note verse 36), it says YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO KNOW THE DAY!  Beloved, there are some things God, for His own reasons, does not want you to know.  Deuteronomy 29:29 calls them the secret things.
Now, I have spent much space to bring us to the point of saying this one thing..... Satan has always tried to muddy the water when it comes to the doctrine of Christ's return.  He wants to keep us dangling like puppets on a spiritual string.  He can't do much about the documented fact of an empty tomb, and the day of Pentecost, and the witness of the church these past 2000 years.  But if he can, he will mislead you, deceive you and keep you bogged-down in questions and wondering that will water down your effectiveness as a servant of the Lord.
So, what do we do?  Do we forget about the Lord's return, and just not worry about it?  No, we should be studying, praying for, and proclaiming it.  But let's stay with what we KNOW, and leave the speculation and date-setting to the star-gazers.
Here are two TRUTHS you can count on about the second coming....
He IS coming!
The return of Jesus Christ is a reality.  Notice the CERTAINTY OF THE EVENT!
Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see ‘the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven’ with power and great glory.    Matthew 24:30 (NRSVA)
Jesus said He would come in the clouds, and in glory.  This is a bodily return.  It is not mystical, or just spiritual; Jesus, the man, is coming back.
ð In John (14:3) Jesus said "...and if I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself..."
ð In Acts (1:11) the angels said it would be that very same Jesus who would return to the earth.
We could cite Biblical references that number in the hundreds about the return of the Lord.  If you have settled in your own heart that the Word of God is true you should have no trouble believing that Jesus is coming back.  Yes, He is coming, that much is certain.
But WHY IS HE COMING??  We understand the certainty of the event.  But what is the purpose?  Verse 31 tells us that it is the gathering together of the "elect", the people of God, His church.
ð 1 Thessalonians (4:16, 17) tells us that Jesus is coming for His bride.
In "The Chronicles of Narnia", C.S. Lewis' weaves an intricate allegory of the battle between heaven and hell.  Jesus is represented by the Lion "Aslan".  The children who exist in an Alice-in-Wonderland-like place called Narnia represent the church.
Things go badly for the children as Aslan is killed, and it looks like the children will have to serve darkness forever.  But just when it is the darkest hour, just when reason and right seem to have lost, Aslan returns and brings in the kingdom.
That's what meaning the word "redeem" holds for me.  Jesus is coming to claim what is rightfully His...a church, the children who are walking in a land of darkness.  The return of Christ is real.  He is coming.  But a second truth is that
We must be ready!
Note these verses:
Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming.    Matthew 24:42 (NRSVA)
Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.  Matthew 24:44 (NRSVA)
As we've said, the return of Jesus cannot be predicted.  That is something God has reserved for Himself.  But the second half of that message is we must rightly understand the fact that Jesus desires that His people live and look in light of the imminence of His coming.  We are not to point to a time and day to say THIS is the day, but we are to conduct ourselves as IF this was the day.
How do we "watch" for His coming?  How shall we "get ready"?  Primarily by understanding the "signs" Jesus said would accompany His return, and responding accordingly.
Note the signs Jesus told us to watch for:
A.  DECEIVERS –
For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah!’ and they will lead many astray. Matthew 24:5 (NRSVA)
We live in an age of deception.  Sum Yung Moon was supposed to be the Christ returned to unify all believers (Unification Church), but he only turned out to be a tax evader.
B.  WARS - FAMINE - PESTILENCES - EARTHQUAKES –
For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places: Matthew 24:7 (NRSVA)
ð Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Korea….take your choice.  Is there ever a time without war somewhere on this planet?
ð The recent famines in the third world have been the worst in centuries.
ð The AIDS epidemic could be the worst plague to hit this earth, EVER!  It could conceivably wipe out whole civilizations.
ð In the 1900 years leading up to the present, there have never been more than 5 major earthquakes recorded in any century.  Yet, in the last century there have been more than 40 killer quakes….and they are (at least anecdotally) getting stronger.
C.   BELIEVERS HATED –
“Then they will hand you over to be tortured and will put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.     Matthew 24:9 (NRSVA)
Even the most naïve among us would not hold that we are a Christian nation any longer; however, the rest of the world still perceives that.  Accordingly, it should not surprise us when attacks like 9-11, and subsequent terrorist plots are from extremists warring against Christian principles.  We are hated because our Master was hated, and the world will despise those who follow Jesus.[1]
D.  INIQUITY ABOUNDING –
And because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold.     Matthew 24:12 (NRSVA)

From just one page of a newspaper in August, 16 years ago (but it reads like it could be this week):
ð A convicted murderer is released from prison after only 5  years.
ð A man is indicted for murdering a 13-year old.
ð A mother is indicted for drowning her two toddlers.
ð A 17-year old is indicted for executing a classmate he didn't like.
ð A mother is indicted for abusing her 2-month old baby girl...for the second time.  She bent the baby's arms back until they broke, then dashed her head-first on the floor, fracturing her skull.
Iniquity, gross disregard for human life, cold-hearted distain for the Creator of life, has taken its foothold in American everyday life.
E.  GOSPEL PREACHED -
And this good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world, as a testimony to all the nations; and then the end will come.  Matthew 24:14 (NRSVA)
The one bright spot for believers is that the gospel of Jesus Christ is truly being preached in every corner of the world today.  The signs of the times are clear.  I set no dates; but in my soul I feel the closeness of the coming of Jesus.  And that brings us to the question of the hour:
What will happen when King Jesus arrives?
When the King arrives in His glory He is going to find two kinds of people --
A.  THOSE WHO ARE READY FOR HIM
“Who then is the faithful and wise slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves their allowance of food at the proper time? Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives.                              Matthew 24:45-46 (NRSVA)
This describes the members of Jesus’ family.  Note the word "slave" denotes someone who is serving faithfully.  In the next verse it indicates that those who have prepared for the coming of the Lord will be rewarded.  He will also find…
B.  THOSE WHO ARE NOT READY
But if that wicked slave says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ and he begins to beat his fellow slaves, and eats and drinks with drunkards,      Matthew 24:48-49 (NRSVA)
These are those folks who have decided that worshipping God in this life is secondary, if necessary at all!  It is the order of the day.  We call it hedonism, making my own choices, doing my own thing.  In a word, it is called apathy....
caring not my Lord was crucified,  caring not it was for me He died, on Calvary.
There is a judgment for that!
In the following verses Jesus warned that it would come like an unexpected foreman finding you asleep on the job.
the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour that he does not know.  He will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
                Matthew 24:50-51 (NRSVA)
What will happen to those who aren't ready?
The results listed in Revelation 20:11-15 are clear.
Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sat on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.  And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.  Also another book was opened, the book of life.  And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books.  And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done.  Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire.  This is the second death, the lake of fire; and anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.  (NRSVA)
Hell is a real place, a place of torment, a forever place.
Just like the children's game of hide and seek there are only two conditions...
Ready or Not
But friends, beloved, this is no game!
Are you ready?  King Jesus is coming.
On the night of March 29, 1848 mighty Niagara Falls stopped flowing.  It was sudden; it had never happened before.  There was silence that was deafening.  It was so strange it brought people to their front doors, frightened and bewildered.  People hurried to the place where millions of tons of water per second rush over the precipice.  Flares and torches were brought.  There, in the illumined darkness were only long stretches of mud and boulders in the empty river bed.
Panic struck many, fearing the end of the world.  The next night found many of the area's churches flooded with people praying, frantic to find peace with the God they knew they'd see shortly.
But then, just about 30 hours after it stopped, the Niagara began to flow once again.  It seems that the river's entrance near Lake Erie, a heavy wind had jammed tons of ice, damming the river for nearly two days.  In a few days the praying and church-going, and being kind, loving one another all went back to pre-emergency status.  People went back to living as usual.
It was the same after September 11, 2001; after the 9-11 attack on the Twin Towers in New York and the Pentagon in Washington there was a brief flurry of fearful running to the churches.  Did it change worship habits substantially?  Not really; and even in a world that is fraught with terrorists and uncertainty, people still imagine nothing will really happen to affect their lives.
How would you react to such an event?  Are you ready?  The next to last verse in the Bible quotes Jesus as saying:  "I come quickly".
ð The first time He came, he went to a cross to extend to all who will respond an invitation to join His family, and be ready.
ð His second coming is also an invitation.  But it will only be to those whom He calls by name.
Beloved, has God written YOUR name in His Book of Life?  If you wrestle with that question for awhile, your heart will hear an answer from heaven.  It will either be, your faith has set you free, or, depart from me, I never knew you.  It is not too late to change the wrong answer to the right answer!  It is your decision.
